Skin Cancer Surgery

If you have a suspicious mole or skin lesion, come see Dr. William Ketcham at Azalea Skin Treatment Center. He will evaluate your situation and explain your skin cancer surgery options. Don’t let the word cancer scare you. Most treatments will be completed as an in-office procedure.

When you come into to our office, we will perform an examination and consultation to help determine what methodology will be best for your situation. We offer a variety of treatment options that include excision, curettage and electrodessication as well as less invasive procedures. One of the less invasive techniques that Dr. Ketcham performs is known as Mohs surgery. This procedure, also called Mohs micrographic surgery, involves carefully removing cancer cells and examining them until only healthy, cancer-free tissue is left. It is done in the office under local anesthesia. This technique is recognized as having the highest cure success rate for basal cell carcinoma, the most frequently diagnosed form of skin cancer. It is also highly effective for recurrent basal cell carcinoma.
